Muscle Re-Education

Muscle re-education is a unique and very effective program designed to restore normal body movement patterns. It restores nerve signals between muscles and brain for optimal function, which will be stored in the memory. Learned movements will then be accessible for use and all body systems will return to the freedom they once knew: to move through your range of motion with strength and flexibility.

We use a variety of techniques including:

Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Retraining

A three-dimensional movement technique used to re-educate muscles and body parts where the movement behavior has been changed due to an injury or surgery. This technique was developed by Herman Kabat, a neurophysiologist, and Margaret Knott, a physical therapist, and uses natural and physiological movement patterns to return to normal function.

Pilates

Physical therapists use Pilates effectively in rehab, both mat and apparatus, for muscular re-education. Originally developed by Joe Pilates, it is a mind-body exercise that provides daily conditioning, promotes whole body health, develops mental awareness to optimize personal performance, and allows you to stabilize from within and return to normal body motion.

NeuroKinetic Therapy®

A corrective movement system is a sophisticated bodywork modality that can be used as both an assessment and rehabilitative technique for low back pain, neck pain, carpal tunnel, and other injuries. This treatment approach assesses muscle activation with gentle muscle testing to establish clear neuromuscular responses to specific muscles and identifies overwhelmed muscles while activating underactive, weakened musculature to restore normal function and strength. NKT facilitates bodies to perform at their natural state: strong and immediately effective.

Brunkow-Therapy

A method that uses neurophysiological elements to affect postural positioning. The quality of hand and foot development is in direct connection to the quality of posture. This will facilitate normal physiologic postural and movement patterns.

Scharschuch-Haase-Method

Based on body positioning and breathing techniques, this method is designed to connect body and mind; reduce muscle tension, stress, and pain syndromes; and improve circulation, economic movement patterns, body awareness, realistic body image, and overall relaxation.

Klein-Vogelbach

Functional kinetics is a movement analysis that assists movement rhythms and range, timing of movement patterns, and movement harmony. It increases ease of motion and reduces degeneration.
